This Victorian ring is set with 4 rectangular synthetic rubies, interspersed with 6 old brilliant cut diamonds which are set in silver.

Note that lab-created rubies have the same chemical properties as these mined from the ground, so they're still rubies but are man-made, as opposed to materials such as  pink glass, which tries to copy the look of rubies but are mere imitations.
